A Mental Health Crisis, like any physical health crisis can be DEVASTATING for Patients, Families, and Communities.
The “mental health crisis system” has fallen unofficially to law enforcement in many communities, some with very bad outcomes.
The approach is patchwork at best and delivers minimal care for some. Most are not making it to getting the care they need and falling through the cracks, facing multiple hospital admissions, time in the criminal system, homelessness, early death, or suicide.
